His Grace SABA, Bishop of North America and Canada

  • June 22nd, 1981 - Bishop Saba, lay name Lasha Intskirveli, was born in Ozurgeti district, Georgia to Andro Intskirveli, an engineer, (1961 -present) and Lia Kutidze (1961-present), a housewife.

  • April 4th, 1993 – His Grace was baptized in the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, in Shemokhmedi Ozurgeti district by Archpriest Basil Kikvadze (now Archimandrite Ioane).

  • 1993 - Archimandrite Ioane was Bishop Saba’s first spiritual confessor and mentor

  • 1996 - His Grace was accepted as a student in the Theological seminary of St. John the Theologian in Batumi.

  • Bishop Saba became acquainted to the monastic life and served as novice in the Monastery of Machairas in Cyprus.

  • 2000 – His Grace successfully completed his studies at the Theological Seminary School in Batumi.

  • 2001- 2007 – With the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II and Metropolitan Dimitri Shiolashvili of Batumi and Lazeti, Bishop Saba went to Serbia to continue his education at in the University of Belgrade of St. John the Theologian, in the department of theology.

  • 2008 - His Grace returned to Georgia.

  • 2008 - Bishop Saba was tonsured as a novice by Metropolitan Dimitri and at the time He was appointed as the secretary to the Metropolitan.

  • June 29, 2009 - Bishop Saba received monastic tonsure.

  • July 5, 2009 -  His Grace was ordained as a hierodeacon.

  • October 2010 - Bishop Saba was transferred to the United States.

  • October 26, 2010 - ordained to holy priesthood by the Metropolitan Dimitri, of Batumi, Lazeti and North America.

  • October 26, 2010 - His Grace was appointed as an Abbot to the Georgian monastery of St. David the Builder and Father-superior to St. George Georgian Church in the state of Pennsylvania.

  • In the History of the Georgian Church, His Grace is the first Georgian cleric who was ordained on the North American continent.  

  • May 22, 2011 - For devotion to clerical services, Bishop Saba was elevated in a rank of Igumen.

  • 2013 - His Grace was appointed as a Father –Superior in The Nativity Church of the Most Holy Theotokos in Brooklyn.

  • February 9, 2013 - Igumen Saba was elevated to the dignity of Archimandrite.

  • October 13, 2013 – Bishop Saba was awarded the right to wear Mantia and carry the Crosier

  • June 3, 2014 - By decision of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Church, Archimandrite Saba was elected to the rank of Bishop, of the North America.

  • June 22, 2014 - by Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II and the members of the Holy Synod of Georgian Church He was consecrated as a Bishop in the Holy Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli.

  • 2014 – Bishop Saba’s sister, Ketevan was tonsured a nun.
